Geometric Ombre Wedding Invitation

Last weekend, my little brother got married and it was such a fun celebration for us on many levels. His wife asked me to help with the invitations and she herself already hand in her mind a grand idea. The main part of this invitation was this kind of geometric shape artwork that she HAND drew. It was amazing. Not surprising that she has a keen eye in design since she was a fellow art major except that she studied Interior Architecture & Design and The Academy of Art. I simply digitized it with some gradient and laid out the text for her. The envelopes featured sheep because of the book they both read and apparently initiated the relationship: A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami.

Okay, so now check out these amazing yarn knitted escort cards. I love the integration of this to the invite. It is such a unique escort card. Her maid of honor lovingly made all 250.

The reception was held outdoors at the beautiful Los Altos History Museum.

These unique DIY centerpieces were also one of my favorite little elements from the wedding. She created the geometric shapes similar to what she drew in the invitation with little coffee sipper straws. I’m going to have to ask her for a tutorial on those.

My little boy got to be the ring bearer.

Wow May is nearly over! Time flies! I will be sharing some invitation goodies later this week. For now, being inspired by some of my really talented illustrator friends (and I despite being a designer, am a terrible drawer) decided to do my own illustration of my childhood guilty pleasures, Sailor Moon! This is for all the moonies out there. Here is a Moonie Intermission.

Sailormoon is is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. This is just personal fan art.

New Wedding Invitations in the Shop!

Hi everyone! It’s been busy so thanks to you who all check back Lisa has been really busy attending pastry school in San Francisco and working on fun recipes over at JolieJolie Fooderie’s blog. The perks of her commute for me are that she is near all the amazing food. She recently brought by an amazing B. Patisserie which has AMAZING kogin amann (flaky croissant like buttery-sugary goodness.) It is probably one of the best ones I’ve had since I was in France a few years ago.

I (Rachel), on the other hand have been busy working on a few stationery and invitation projects. I just added and will be continually adding more wedding invitations, party invitations and save the dates to the shop!

At my old stationery company job, giving out Valentine’s day cards was part of the company culture and I loved it. Before then, I hadn’t sent out that many cards since elementary school! It was such a fun thing to do and I totally miss it especially seeing all these cute Valentine’s Day cards around. Valentine’s Day now also holds another special place in my heart because it was the day my son was born. Check out some of my current favorite unique Valentine’s Day cards.

Succulent Party

This afternoon, a few friends and I got together to put some succulents together in the container of our choice! It was so much fun and quite therapeutic! For those who do not have a green thumb, like me, succulents are really a great way to start because they do not need too much care. I must admit, whoever said that it’s hard to kill a succulent, must have not killed one before because I definitely have failed a few times. For the most part, the survival rate of succulents in my care have been 75% so that isn’t so bad!

The containers that were used were a tea cup, a glass bowl from CB2, an awesome bird feeder and eggshells that was inspired from Pinterest!

We had a blast putting these together! Then we went to dinner afterwards at Gochi Fusion Japanese Tapas Restaurant! Go to FOODERIE to check out the yummy pictures from that!

New to JolieJolie

Sorry that I (Lisa) have been hiatus for the past couple months… not that design is not on my mind but in the last few months I have been, what people may call, following after my dreams. I have always loved to bake before food channels were cool. I baked since I was 10 years old. Many failed attempts and many successful ones. I started to really get into it more with more making more complicated things like the finicky macaron and the buttery croissant.

An opportunity came to me in July of last year to work in a michelin restaurant along side their pastry chef for 6 months. I quit my job and jumped on that opportunity. Never thought that I would quit my 9-5 career to pursue what I really love. As I worked long hours and learned the ins and outs of the restaurant business, I worked along an amazing pastry chef. I learned so much from those 6 months. This was a make it or break it for me. I could have left this opportunity realizing that this wasn’t for me… but I didn’t. This was for me. So what am I doing now since my internship is up? I am now in pastry school to become a pastry chef. I am excited beyond belief.

You may think that this blog may be a good-bye to JJ but this is not. If our lives are not crazy enough and soon-to-be more crazy when JolieJolie will be outnumbered by our children, we are so excited to announce ….

While we share about the designs we create and love, we now are going to be able to share that with food as well on FOODERIE! Be patient with us as we get up and running but LIKE us and following us! We are so thankful for our fans and without you this could not happen!
