Names sound familiar? You might have read about our posts on deny’s proposal and then their wedding, which was 2 years ago today [Happy Anniversary!]. Now we are going to share about their baby shower! So it was a no brainer that we had to throw something special for the parents-to-be!

This was definitely a DIY affair. I sewed pieces of round fabric to a thick rope of natural hemp to make the bunting. We took some paper lanterns and turned them into simple hot air balloons. I started growing succulents in baby food jars and made a berry crisp in 4 oz mason jars as party favors. Appetizers consists of beautiful strawberries from a local farmers market, a platter of amazing meats and cheeses,  and spam musubis. Dessert consists of homemade macarons and I made a cute little 4 in vanilla cake with homemade lemon curd and whipped cream frosting. We also had an ice cream bar to end the special event! The couple liked the silhouette idea (the profile ones) but wanted to change it up to be more modern and less conventional than what was out there. So rather than a profile, I did them forward facing with their own specific trademarks. Christine always wears her hair in a side braid and Jack has these cool thick rimmed glasses. These elements make the couple identifiable while still simplifying the overall drawing. Christine is also a school teacher so we added the “Pencil Us In” idea as a nod to Teacher Christine. Hope you guys like it!

Then comes baby in the baby carriage of course. Lisa is hosting their baby shower for the arrival of their new baby girl and I was enlisted to create a unique baby shower invitation. The theme is kind of like a vintage book theme–a new story unfolding. We love the Penguin Classics Books covers so we created a series for the shower. Inside was a little library card with the additional information for the baby shower. Looking forward to the baby shower! Each guest received a different cover. I am the only one that has the full collection. =)

I also apologize in advance for my terrible photography. Stationery is very difficult to shoot for a layphotographer such as myself. =)
