Rooted in Love Wedding Invitation–A Love for Food!

I was browsing on the internets to see what lovely gifts it had to offer today and I stumbled upon this adorable wedding invitation by Brooklyn designer Spencer Paul Bagley. He described the idea behind the design, “Their wedding concept was Rooted in Love, and they wanted the experience to be a mesh of their home towns, Brooklyn and Vermont. A community cookbook consisting of recipes from friends and family was included in a gift bag to guests.”

I love all the illustrations and the community cookbook is a wonderful and unique wedding favor idea.

Elegant Purple and Gray Wedding

Excited to share with you (but extremely hard to photograph) a classic and elegant blind letterpress wedding invitation. The bride really wanted to incorporate the vintage feel of lace and burlap. In the design, we have blind letterpressed, which means pressed in with no ink, a lacy background into the paper. The beauty of blind letterpress is that it’s subtle but it can give off a really nice “wow factor”. Wrapped in a goccoed burlap belly band, these unique wedding invitations were definitely fun to work on.

Some detail shots of the blind letterpressing

The couple hired the extremely talented wedding photographer, Jose Villa to shoot their special day. Here are some of the details of the day shot by Jose including the couple’s full stationery set. The day took place at the beautiful Bently Reserve in San Francisco.

The wedding program were tucked into goccoed burlap bags.

I found about six of these old frames at a thrift store and paid $30 for them. The bride spray painted them gray to create a consistent and vintage look for the hang tag escort cards. The hang tags were to harp on the previous notion from their wooden hang tag save the dates.

One of my favorite things about this wedding was the gorgeous flowers done by Natalie Bowen. The centerpieces were set into beautiful wood boxes and the tables were identified with zinc letters.

The couple had hired a creme brulee cart as a post-party treat. Everyone received a little wooden spoon with a flag as a ticket informing them of the cart.

Gold Foil Stamped Wedding Invitation

I’m excited to share with you a wedding invitation I most recently worked on. Growing up, my best friend was a girl named Jodie. She was fun, beautiful, outgoing, always stood up for me and most importantly, she accepted me as I was. I met her on the school bus on the second day of kindergarten.

Yea, that’s me on the left with the dorky haircut and cheerleading costume–which is ironic because I was a total tomboy.I think my mom got it because it was on sale. Jodie is on the right! I believe we were in 4th grade here.

Twenty-five years later, she is getting married and I was super honored when she asked me to design her wedding invitations. Her colors were gold and gray but she said she wanted to glitterfiy everything! Well, glitter might be a little too messy though I have seen some really awesome glitter-lined envelopes, we settled on making it “pop” with some foil stamping.

Can’t wait to celebrate with them on their big day! Since I posted embarrassing photos of us from our youth, it would only be right to balance it out with her gorgeous engagement photos shot at the San Jose International Airport by the very talented photographer Vivian Sachs.

Wooden Peg Dolls Cake Topper

I’m getting to work on a lot of fun wedding projects recently and one of the brides wanted wooden peg doll cake toppers for the cake. I enlisted a talented friend of mine, Tony and his buddy Noel to paint them. The bride and groom already had an established logo/look that I wanted to incorporate into the peg dolls. I thought they did a great job. They also presented the dolls in a cute little wooden box. To the right is the original printed logo. Check it out!!

If you’re interested in Tony and Noel’s work, message us for a special deal on these wooden wedding peg dolls! They were much more affordable than some of the dolls on Etsy and the paint job was very clean!
