Vintage Book Themed Baby Shower

We had the honor of throwing a baby shower for our friends, Deny and Vivian. Names sound familiar? You might have read about our posts on deny’s proposal and then their wedding, which was 2 years ago today [Happy Anniversary!]. Now we are going to share about their baby shower! So it was a no brainer that we had to throw something special for the parents-to-be!

This was definitely a DIY affair. I sewed pieces of round fabric to a thick rope of natural hemp to make the bunting. We took some paper lanterns and turned them into simple hot air balloons. I started growing succulents in baby food jars and made a berry crisp in 4 oz mason jars as party favors. Appetizers consists of beautiful strawberries from a local farmers market, a platter of amazing meats and cheeses,  and spam musubis. Dessert consists of homemade macarons and I made a cute little 4 in vanilla cake with homemade lemon curd and whipped cream frosting. We also had an ice cream bar to end the special event! Thanks to our awesome team that came to help us out [Jewell, Sarah and Grace]

You saw the invites done by Rachel and here are some awesome shots taken by photographer and videographer, Josh Kidwell.

Congratulations, Deny and Vivian! We are so excited to meet your little peanut!

Cookie Exchange 2011

Every year, my fabulous Jolie partner in crime, Lisa, throws a wonderful cookie exchange! We all bake and there’s a competition for best tasting and best looking cookie. We also bake extras to pack up and donate to Unity Care, a transitional foster care program. This is actually the whole purpose of the exchange other than to gorge ourselves in deliciousness.

Lisa set up all these lovely blue and gray decorations and sewed some lovely streamers to hang on the edges of the tables. She just took 3 streamers and ran them through her sewing machine!

For the cookies, she sat doilies on top of kraft paper rosettes.

All packed up and ready to go with pretty labels.

Lisa also prepped some funky sock monkeys to make for the kids at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. What a fun twist to the traditional sock monkey! I love how they are so big and cuddly. She bought these socks at Target.

Great job Lisa! Can’t wait until next year 🙂
